RFTLers will ride the proposed Superloop to promote the improved bus route
Finding and actual Superloop bus wasn't that easy as the service is still in its infancy. We found a real one the SL8 and encourage TFL to rapidly roll out the public transport and active travel infrastructure to facilitate alternatives to the polluting and congesting car.
RFTLers rode the proposed Superloop to explore the improved circular bus route to help Londoners get out of their polluting and congestion causing cars. We used 2 Sundays in August and followed a route taking in all the Bus/rail interchanges as the exact bus routes are open for consultation and not finalised. All of the route was easily (if not always safely) ridable. We are all confident riders and enjoyed traveling in our groups, however the atmosphere and infrastructure in the different boroughs was markedly different. As expected Waltham Forrest had much less congestion and good safe infrastructure. We cycled down some lovely LTN/people streets that were thronged with people enjoying the cafes and shops without cars speeding by or idling. In contrast on a lovely sunny day in Bromley we had cars traveling on the other side of the road shouting abuse at us and people asking if our bikes were ULEZ compliant. Its good to see that the actions and words of local politicians are powerful when it comes to keeping people safe and free from harassment.
